The Pass It On Project

You pass it on — we pass it forward.

At Vernons House Clearance, we believe that not everything cleared from a property should end up in landfill. Many items still have plenty of life left in them — and that’s where our new Pass It On Project begins.

This is a growing community reuse initiative built around one simple idea:
if something can be reused, it should be.

 What We Do

Through every house clearance, we carefully sort and rescue items that still have value — furniture, décor, household goods, and everyday essentials.

Some are donated directly to local families, community groups, and small charities. Others are sold at low, fair prices, helping to raise money for independent causes right here in South Yorkshire.

Every sale or donation helps reduce landfill, support those who need a little extra help, and keep our local economy thriving.

Who We Help

Our Pass It On Project supports:

  • Local families starting over or struggling financially

  • Independent charities and community projects

  • Animal rescues and mental health causes

  • Local reuse networks and small shops doing good work

When you book a clearance with Vernons, you’re not just freeing up space — you’re helping your community too.

The Future of Pass It On

Right now, the Pass It On Project is in its early stages — but it’s growing fast.
Our long-term goal is to open our own dedicated community space, where people can browse, buy, or collect pre-loved goods at affordable prices.

This future hub will be a welcoming place for everyone — a mix of thrift store, community reuse centre, and workshop space where we can run “mend and make do” sessions and encourage sustainable living.

 Why It Matters

Every reused item means less waste and more hope for someone else.
A chair, a kettle, or a set of dishes might not mean much to one person — but to another, it’s the start of a home.

By reusing and repurposing what others leave behind, we’re building something better for the planet and our community.

 Get Involved

If you have items in good condition that could be reused or donated, we’d love to hear from you.
Every Monday, we volunteer our time to collect items for local charity shops — helping restock shelves, reduce waste, and support good causes across South Yorkshire.
